16-06-2006 Prince Vittorio Emanuele, 69, was arrested on Friday 16 June 2006 as part of an investigation into corruption and prostitution, a judicial source said.
Vittorio Emanuele was among around 13 people arrested as part of a police operation focusing on the activities of a Casino in northern Italy. "I am absolutely shocked, they treated him like a bandit", Vittorio Emanuele's son, Prince Emmanuel Filiberto, told a private Italian television network.
Vittorio Emanuele, who was 9 years old when the royal family left Italy, was involved in what Italian news agency ANSA called "criminal association abetting prostitution".
